SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY

WE ARE COMMITTED TO COMPLYING WITH SOCIAL STANDARDS

We regard respectful and responsible relations with everyone who comes within the scope of our entrepreneurial activities as the basis of any partnership.

Brax operates int the context of global competition in the clothing industry. The method of production is highly specialized and labour intensive. Our overarching aim is to ensure that the employees, both within our company and throughout the entire value chain, enjoy good and safe working conditions.

Although we are continuously expanding our product portfolio, we strive to keep the number of our producers to a manageable level. We focus on building strategic, long-term partnerships with our suppliers.

Amfori BSCI

We work closely with our producers to continuously improve working conditions. This is why we joined the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (amfori BSCI) in 2008.

The BSCI is an initiative by purchasing organizations aimed at improving global working conditions in various sectors. We believe the only way we can ensure that significant, lasting improvements are made at the factories is if we can get together with other enterprises. This is precisely what the BSCI enables us to do.

To make sure that our suppliers are following the amfori Code of Conduct, we regularly audit them by independent, external auditing companies.

The amfori BSCI Code of Conduct

  • No Child Labour
  • Fair Remuneration
  • No Bonded, Forced Labour or Human Trafficking
  • Decent Working Hours
  • No Discrimination, Violence or Harassment
  • Protection of the Environment
  • Occupational Health and Safety
  • Ethical Business Bahaviour
  • Special Protection for Young Workers
  • No Precarious Employment
  • The Rights of Freedom of Association and Collective Bargaining
  • Workers Involvment and Protection
  • Social Management System and Cascade Effect

Extended BSCI-Process

The diagram shows a simplified version of the BSCI process for reviewing social standards. It also includes our own measures.

UK Modern Slavery Act

We reject any form of forced labour, modern slavery or human trafficking. To this end, we regularly audit our direct suppliers and partners to ensure compliance with the amfori BSCI Code of Conduct and the UK Modern Slavery Act 2015. The current declaration is available to download here.

Social Engagement

Taking Responsibility - Working together to make a difference

We want to take responsibility not only for our employees, customers and business partners, but also for the well-being of everyone involved in producing our fashion items worldwide, including their families.

Together with our partner organizations ZXY-International and 7 STREAMS, we have been supporting children from socially very disadvantaged families in Dhaka (Bangladesh) attending school free of charge since 2018. Our local partner is the JAAGO Foundation, whose goal is to enable children in Dhaka's poorest areas to attend school.

People dwelling in the slum areas of the capital city, struggle to secure bare necessities such as food, water and sanitation, shelter, education, employment as well as healthcare.

As a result, financial constraints compel their families to limit their expenses of some of these needs. This is why some children never get enrolled into schools in the first place. The ones who do, are forced to drop out.

Together with ZXY-International and 7 STREAMS, we will be sponsoring their Education Programm, which includes providing books, bags, uniforms, stationery, nutritious boots as well as health checkups and the costs for qualified teachers.

*7 STREAMS is the foundation set up by ZXY-International, which is dedicated to social engagement in Bangladesh. ZXY-International is our partner agency on the ground. We work together to carefully select and support producers in Bangladesh
